How can I effectively cool my space without breaking the bank on air conditioning?
Fans and open windows can create a refreshing cross breeze.
A cheap substitute for air conditioning includes using fans and opening windows for cross ventilation, which circulates air and cools rooms. Portable air conditioners offer a more affordable option than central AC. Blackout curtains and avoiding heat-producing appliances during peak times also help maintain cooler indoor temperatures.
I have a lot of windows here in Texas, but they just absorb so much heat. I purchased 1 inch of foil-covered foam insulation. To fit the windows’ sizes, I trimmed them. Before I go for work, I put them on my windows and cover them with blackout curtains. The distinction was well worth the price.
