SketchUp alternative for iPad?

Hey everyone! I’ve been using SketchUp on my iPad for some simple 3D modeling, but it doesn’t always have the features I need. Can anyone recommend a good alternative that works better on the iPad? I’m looking for something that’s user-friendly and has enough tools for intermediate modeling. Thanks in advance!

Check out Shapr3D! It’s really intuitive on the iPad, especially with the Apple Pencil, and has great tools for 3D modeling. I find it better than SketchUp for precise designs.

I’ve heard about Shapr3D but never tried it. Does it have a steep learning curve?

Not really! It’s designed for touch and pencil input, so it’s easy to pick up. Plus, there are lots of tutorials to help you get started.

You might also want to try uMake. It’s another great option for 3D modeling on the iPad. It’s more lightweight but still powerful for detailed work.

uMake sounds interesting, especially if it’s more lightweight. Does it offer export options for CAD formats?

Yes, it does! You can export to various formats like OBJ, STL, and even CAD files like IGES.

I’ve been using Onshape for a while, and it’s a solid alternative. It’s cloud-based, so you can access your models from anywhere. It’s great if you’re into more technical and precise modeling.

Cloud-based sounds convenient! How does Onshape handle large projects on the iPad?

It handles large projects well, but you need a good internet connection since it’s cloud-based. If your connection is strong, it’s very smooth.

If you’re looking for something more artsy, Nomad Sculpt is a cool app for sculpting and detailed designs. It’s not as feature-packed for CAD, but perfect for creative 3D work.

That sounds fun! I’ll give it a try for some creative projects.

You should also check out Vectorworks Nomad if you’re looking for an app that’s good for architecture and construction designs on iPad.

I hadn’t heard of that one! Sounds like a great option for architecture work. Thanks!
