Hey everyone, I’ve been using Debian for a while and I’m curious about other operating systems and Linux distros that might be good alternatives. I know that Debian is all about creating a free operating system and has a huge community behind it, but I’ve heard there are over 100 alternatives out there. I’ve seen mentions of Linux Mint being a top alternative and it seems like a solid open-source option. I’d love to hear what other options you recommend, especially if you’ve had good experiences with them.
Linux Mint is definitely a great choice. It’s user-friendly and has a lot of software available out of the box.
If you like Debian, you might also want to check out Ubuntu. It’s based on Debian and has a huge community.
Arch Linux is another option, but it’s more for advanced users. It’s super customizable if you are into that.
Fedora is also a solid choice. It’s more cutting-edge than Debian and has a good selection of software.
Manjaro is a nice middle ground. It’s based on Arch but easier to install and use. Great for users looking for something different.
