I also owned a 2018 Touch Bar MacBook Pro, and I concur! It was the worst MacBook I’ve owned. On the other hand, my 2011 MacBook Pro has been reliable, still functioning flawlessly to this day. Here’s hoping my Air proves to be equally durable!
Common substitutes for the MacBook Air comprise the Dell XPS series, HP Spectre/Victus series, and Microsoft Surface Laptop lineup. These devices frequently boast comparable specifications, featuring robust processors, high-definition screens, and portable builds, all operating on Windows platforms.
I do not understand why one would use a macbook when hp laptops come with better aesthetic design and also at a cheaper price. Also Hp laptops have better processing speeds
I do not agree with this, the macOS is way faster than the windows OS. Also, Macbook in compatible with any apple device making it efficient to use
The HP Pavilion Plus 14 offers MacBook Air-like features at an affordable price, making it a great alternative.

Popular alternatives to the MacBook Air include the Dell XPS series, HP Spectre/Victus series, and Microsoft Surface Laptop lineup. These laptops often offer similar specifications, such as powerful processors, high-resolution displays, and lightweight designs, while running on Windows operating systems.
For what it’s worth, the MacBook models from the 2016-2019 era with the butterfly keyboard are notorious for being accident-prone. The newer machines, especially those with the M-series CPUs, are significantly improved.
However, I understand why this experience might deter you from considering future Apple products. If you’re looking for reliable alternatives for production work, I’d recommend checking out Dell Precision and ThinkPad laptops. For those who prioritize aesthetics, the Razer Studio lineup offers stylish options.
To be frank, “good luck,” and as a Mac enthusiast, I have to say Apple really hit a home run with the M1 chip. The new body style is top tier. Apple has long had the best trackpads and industry-leading battery life, and now their battery life is dominating the industry.
That said, I believe ThinkPads have better keyboards, and I’m a big fan of the TrackPoint. To get something comparable to the MacBook Air, you’ll need to go with the X1 Carbon. In my opinion, you’re better off going with the ThinkPad T14 over the Carbon, but I don’t dislike the Carbons.
Other competitors include the Dell XPS 13, Razer Blade (especially the Stealth), and LG Gram. Microsoft’s Surface series is also worth considering.
If I weren’t using a Mac, I’d go with a ThinkPad. Lenovo offers excellent support, and although they’ve been moving towards soldered components, pushback from the ThinkPad community has led to some newer models offering user-serviceable upgrades. ThinkPads also have a very robust secondhand market, so if budget is a concern, you can find a good ThinkPad for a reasonable price.
