Anyone know a good substitute for Worcestershire sauce?

Hey all, I’m out of Worcestershire sauce and don’t have time to run to the store. Any good substitutes you’ve used before? I’m making a marinade and need something quick!

You could mix soy sauce with a bit of vinegar and sugar! It’s not exactly the same, but it gets pretty close to the tangy flavor.

That’s actually a great idea! What kind of vinegar do you usually use?

I usually go with apple cider vinegar or white vinegar, but balsamic could work too if you want something sweeter.

Try using fish sauce! It has a similar umami kick. Just don’t use too much—it’s pretty strong stuff!

Ooo, I’ve got fish sauce in my pantry. How much do you usually add?

Just a splash or two should do the trick, then adjust to taste.

If you have balsamic vinegar and soy sauce, you can mix them together! Add a dash of lemon juice or hot sauce for extra flavor.

Nice, I’ve got both! Might try that combo.

I’ve used A1 steak sauce as a replacement before—it’s got a similar tangy, savory vibe. Not perfect, but works in a pinch.

Oh, that’s interesting! I’ve got A1 in the fridge. Does it change the flavor a lot?

A bit, but not in a bad way. It’s a bit richer than Worcestershire, but still tasty.

Soy sauce, a little molasses or brown sugar, and some lemon juice can get pretty close to Worcestershire sauce if you don’t have it.

I’ve got all of those! How much molasses do you recommend adding?

Just a small spoonful should do it! You don’t want it to be too sweet, just enough to balance the soy sauce.
