I’m looking for alternatives to TrainController for controlling model trains. I know it’s a popular option, but I’d love to explore what else is out there. Any suggestions?
You should definitely check out JMRI! It’s free and open source, and it works on multiple platforms.
Yeah, it has a bit of a learning curve, but there are plenty of tutorials to help you out.
What’s special about Rocrail compared to TrainController?
It offers great automation features and is also free. Plus, it supports multiple hardware interfaces.
I’ve been using a different software for my setup, but I can’t remember the name right now. I’ll update if I find it!
Also consider using the Raspberry Pi with some custom scripts. It can be a fun project!
That sounds interesting. Any resources you recommend for setting that up?
Yeah, check out some forums dedicated to Raspberry Pi and model trains. Lots of helpful info there!
I’ve also seen people use TrainPlayer for managing their layouts. Anyone tried that?
