Any alternatives to TextNow for calling from outside North America?

I’ve been using TextNow for about 5 years, but they recently started disabling accounts that use VPNs, and I live outside North America. I lost my last account and used it for personal and work stuff, so I’m looking for alternatives. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

I recommend voip.ms. It’s not free, but it’s reliable and works anywhere. It’s about 85¢ per month, and calls to North America are just 1¢ per minute. You’ll need a separate app for SMS, but it’s worth looking into.

Thanks for the suggestion! I don’t mind paying a bit if it’s reliable. I’ll check it out!

You could also try Skype’s paid number plans. It’s not free either, but it gives you a US number for calls.

I didn’t know Skype had that option. I’ll look into it, thanks!

Google Voice might work for you if you have a US number to set it up. You’d need someone in the US to help with that, but once it’s set up, you can use it over Wi-Fi.

True, but they need a US number to start, which might be tricky if they don’t have one.

Try Tello! It has a Wi-Fi calling feature that works globally. It might be a good fit if you just need basic service outside the US.

I’ve heard about Tello before. I’ll give it a look. Thanks for the tip!

Have you tried reaching out to TextNow support? I know they’ve disabled VPNs, but maybe you can explain your situation. I’ve had luck with chat support before.

Yeah, I tried contacting them multiple times, but no response. It’s frustrating!
