Any alternatives to Huawei Health for watches?

Huawei Health on Android has been really frustrating for me. It constantly disconnects from my watch, even though my phone is right in my pocket. The Bluetooth symbol grays out, and I have to keep reconnecting the app to get messages or updates. And why does controlling music require an internet connection?! Also, Huawei Health is weird with updates — I get the ‘latest version’ from Google Play, but then it tells me to download another update from an APK link. The worst part? I can’t change the watch face without sharing my location. It’s super annoying, and I’m wondering if anyone knows of an alternative that works for showing calls, messages, notifications, and collecting health data from my Huawei Watch Fit (TIA-B09). I love the hardware, but the app is making me want to switch devices altogether.

You could try Gadgetbridge. It’s open-source and supports a lot of different devices, including some Huawei models. It doesn’t have all the features of Huawei Health, but the community is working on adding more.

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll check if it’s compatible with my Watch Fit.

Gadgetbridge is great, but just be aware it doesn’t sync with third-party apps like Google Fit.

I had similar issues, and I agree — Huawei Health is a nightmare. You could try using Zepp, but I’m not sure if it’ll support all Huawei devices. It works better for notifications and syncing data, though.

I’ll look into Zepp. If it handles notifications without the constant disconnections, it might be worth switching.

I totally feel your pain. I had the same issues with disconnections and annoying location requests. I ended up switching to a different brand of wearable. If you’re looking for an alternative, it might be worth considering another watch entirely.

I’m really tempted to switch, but I like the hardware on my Watch Fit. Just wish the software was better!

Have you tried tinkering with the battery optimization settings on your phone? Sometimes Android puts the app to sleep, which could be causing the disconnections. You might also need to give it full background access.

I’ve already turned off battery optimization for Huawei Health, but I’m still getting random disconnects. It’s so inconsistent!

If you’re okay with fewer features, you could use WearOS. It’s not perfect but at least you won’t have to deal with constant updates and permissions issues.

Hmm, I’ll consider WearOS, but I’d miss some of the health tracking features. Maybe I’ll give it a try if nothing else works.
